Eastern Cottontail

It rained hard most of the day but by the time I finished work at dusk, the rain had stopped. It was much colder than yesterday. Every time I stopped to take a picture with my phone, my hands and feet started to go numb.

I found this small friend crouching in the blackberry brambles near Piper's Creek. Eastern Cottontails (Sylvilagus floridanusare the most common rabbit species in North America, including King County. They are not native to the region but can frequently be seen in parks and backyards and sometimes even in more urban parts of the city.
